Mount&Blade is an action role-playing, open-ended, single-player computer game set in the Middle Ages, developed by TaleWorlds from Turkey and published by Paradox Interactive. The retail version was officially released on September 16, 2008, in North America, and three days later in Europe. The game originated as an independent project by Armağan Yavuz, the founder of TaleWorlds, and his wife, İpek Yavuz. Before the retail release, the developers launched a beta version of the game on their website. The game appeared on the Steam platform on November 3, 2008. Mount&Blade is a directional action role-playing game with an emphasis on mounted combat. Unlike most other games in this genre, the game adopts a sandbox style and does not contain any other fantasy elements. The game also lacks a main storyline, which seems very vague; instead, the game introduces an open-world land named Calradia. Players can join one of the five warring nations, fight as a mercenary, play the role of an outlaw, or maintain a neutral stance.
